The Tanglewood Estate Mornington Peninsula
When you hear the name “Tanglewood Estate”, doesn’t it just bring to mind wild beauty and stunning outdoor forests? And the Tanglewood Estate is truly that - an outdoor paradise that would be an absolutely lovely spot for couples to take their first step into married life.
If nature is your happy place, the Tanglewood would be the ideal location for the most important day of your life. Surrounded by gorgeous old eucalyptus trees and on the shore of a mirror-clear lake, there’s no more beautiful backdrop.
If you’re getting married in 2023 or beyond, don’t wait! This gem books out long in advance, so if you love the atmosphere Tanglewood Estate provides, this is the perfect location for you.
Location & Vibe
Located in Merricks North, Tanglewood Estate is a wonderful combination of modern and rustic. It’s surprising that such an outdoor haven can be just about an hour outside of Melbourne city! Perfect for couples who live in the big city but want a beautiful, nature-based wedding.
The vibe of Tanglewood Estate is unique. There’s a definite rustic feeling to it, with the buildings being crafted from natural wood and vintage sheet metal.
The venue offers everything you need for your perfect day, from a chapel to overnight accommodation. Once you’re on these gorgeous grounds, you may never want to leave!
One of the best things about this venue is that when you book a day, it’s only you, your SO, and your guests on these gorgeous grounds. It’s completely private, and you won’t be sharing the space with anyone who’s not a part of your day.
The Chapel
The wooden chapel is over a century old, and oozes atmosphere. Nestled in amongst enormous old trees, the chapel has a cosy and intimate feeling and brings that to every ceremony conducted here.
With a clean white colour scheme, you can expect beautiful photos and purity to the experience. The chapel seats 90 and can accommodate another 30 standing.
The Studio
If you want an intimate spot for pre-ceremony drinks or a smaller area for a cocktail wedding reception, the Studio would be perfect. With a small kitchen, well-stocked bar, and upstairs lounge, it’s perfect for little groups to have a close-knit ceremony or reception.
Tanglewood Winery
However, if you’re planning on a bigger group of guests, the winery would be perfect. The Tanglewood Winery is a unique and interesting part of the venue that’s most often used for wedding receptions, but can also be used for the ceremony.
It seats up to 130 people, so it can handle fairly large weddings. But if you’re planning on a larger wedding than that, you may need to consider a different venue or a smaller gst list.
With a fully-stocked bar, a state-of-the-art kitchen (with world-class chefs), a spacious outdoor courtyard area, and a deck that overlooks both the on-site dam and Port Philip Bay, you won’t find a lovelier place for your celebration.
Photo Opportunities
Set in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, Tanglewood Estate describes itself as a secret garden. What’s more magical than a beautiful hidden garden of Eden?
This stunning venue is carved out of 100 acres of wilderness in Merricks North. You’re surrounded by a paradise that includes a country-style garden, grape vines, a variety of native plants, flowers, and even wildlife.
The garden itself is filled with an abundance of opportunities for gorgeous photos. Aside from the eucalyptus forest, you’ll get stunning photographs on the jetty of the heart-shaped lake, especially if you happen to have a sunset wedding. Reflections always make for beautiful photos!
Even the architecture is a lovely backdrop. Natural wood, brick, and sheet metal are scattered throughout the venue, so whatever feeling you’re going for in your pictures, you can find an appropriate location within the grounds.
Whether you choose to (or are forced to) have your wedding photographs indoors or outdoors, you’re guaranteed to come away with spectacular memories that you can look back on for years to come and remember that magical atmosphere.
As well as the abundance of perfect photo spots, Tanglewood offers props for hire too! If you want to incorporate some vintage-themed props in your photos, ask ahead so arrangements can be made.
Catering & Hospitality
Tanglewood doesn’t seem to do their own catering, but there are plenty of external catering companies who will contribute to your wedding at the estate. Do a bit of research on this and make sure you find a company that’s reputable, both in terms of the quality of their food and their excellent service!
Capacity & Accommodation Options
Tanglewood has partnered with Somers Beach House, a guesthouse situated about 15 minutes away from the venue. It sleeps a maximum of 12 people, so it’s the perfect size for a wedding party to stay the night and the ideal spot for the bride to get ready on her wedding day.
It’s a pretty luxurious spot for a night or two’s stay. With a private gate down the beach just meters away, it’s also an excellent choice for just the married couple to spend their wedding night.
Even if the beach isn’t your scene, you can spend time together within the guesthouse, which houses a hot tub, a cosy wood heater, andan air conditioner for those hot days.
Conclusion
Tanglewood Estate is such a popular venue that it’s already booked out for 2022! If you’re planning on getting married in ‘22, you may be lucky enough for a cancellation to pop up, but if you want to secure your spot at this spectacular venue, you should book now for 2023.
