Award Winning Wedding Photographer
During your wedding research you’ll undoubtably see the industry is speckled with amazingly talented, award winning wedding photographers, awards and badges covering their website pages.
However, and I will be honest here, I don’t enter my work into awards or competitions. My aim will never be to receive accolades. Instead, my focus is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and a lasting product to my customers.
I know it's cliché but it’s far more important to me that my customers get the amazing wedding photographs they are expecting - this is where my time goes - over and above entering my work into wedding photography and industry awards. In addition to this, I help wedding photographers with my various photography business and marketing training programmes.
Having said that, my photos are selected for various awards and wedding collections throughout the year and I am exceptionally proud to be listed on the same list as some of the best wedding photographers in the industry.
Recent ones worth mentioning include Best Wedding Photographer (Hen Heaven), International Wedding and Portrait Photographer of the Year (Lux Global Wedding Awards), The 50 Best Wedding Photographers (Go Hen) and 'Top 10 Wedding Photographers' (Professional Photographer magazine).
Wedding Photography Associations, not Awards
Competition submissions inevitably feature lot’s of incredible, one-off shots. Whilst it’s possible to create a very strong selection of images over the course of a typical wedding day, these one-of-a-kind shots just aren’t a true representation of a real wedding.
Competition-winning photographs will also, more often then not, be quite structured and may have put the couple in a difficult position on the day; taking them away from their guests during the drinks reception for a considerable amount of time. The issue is, the best wedding photographers rely on real skill, talent, understanding and consistency, luck very rarely comes into it - it’s about having the experience to anticipate these natural moments.
To demonstrate to couples that in my work I focus on the quality of service and the product, I am a member of a number of invitation-only associations. Worth a hundred award winning photos is my membership of Best of Wedding Photography and the reportage wedding photography directory This is Reportage.
In addition, I'm also part of the Wedding Photojournalists Association (also known as documentary wedding photography), as well as a member of the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers, both of which require positive customer and photographer/peer reviews in order for photographers to achieve membership status.
