Reportage Wedding Photographer
Melbourne & Mornington Peninsula
A reportage wedding photographer will capture your celebration in the most candid reality. Two people making the commitment of marriage is a ceremony littered with genuine moments of pure emotion. A reportage style of wedding photography captures and beautifully celebrates these breath-taking moments in photographs that years later, will evoke priceless memories when viewed as part of a collection.
Unfortunately, reportage wedding photography is an often-misused term in the wedding photography. It is not a ‘sniping’ of headshots from distances using long lenses. Neither is it a reportage photograph because someone is not looking directly into the camera. This is a hands-off approach allowing the subject to feel relaxed and natural creating a powerful set of images that are timeless, no matter the size of the wedding.
What is Reportage Wedding Photography?
Ultimately, reportage wedding photography is about capturing the story of the day. It is not about an isolated or staged portrait. Rather it is a style that tells an authentic narrative capturing the atmosphere and the setting, photographing the action and reactions, and sensitively detailing the subjects within the contextual landscape.
"I’m speechless (and that does not happen very often). The images are everything we had hoped for. You’ve captured the entire day, showing all the true emotion and happiness.
You have just made our day."

Finding the right wedding photographer is an exceptionally important task. For me, it is not just photography of a wedding, it is documenting the celebration of life at its most wonderful poignancy.
That understanding is reflected in my approach. I focus on storytelling, creating a truthful and elegant record of your whole celebration as well as the little moments unfolding around you that you did not necessarily see on the day. Capturing your celebration in this way creates an emotive, beautiful, elegant, and completely timeless set of photographs that sensitively reveal the whole story of your wedding day.
This being said, I will still typically produce a handful of family photographs as well as a few bride and groom portraits for the majority of the weddings I shoot. I allocate no more than 25 minutes to cover these shots, so to limit the impact on the flow of images captured in the final collection.
The result is that I curate a treasured family heirloom that will be looked at time and again throughout the years, taking you and your loved ones back to the day with total clarity and an honest emotional impact.
Al is such a pleasant, genuine and super talented guy, we instantly warmed to him. His reportage approach enabled him to virtually go unnoticed, producing some amazing shots, never intruding at all on what was a very hectic jam packed day.
