Natural Wedding Photography

Across Melbourne & Mornington Peninsula

My approach offers an authentic, honest style of natural wedding photography. This is most commonly described as ‘reportage wedding photography’ or ‘documentary wedding photography’. These terms describe the same fundamental, candid style of wedding photography - I don’t ask people to play up to the camera, or even acknowledge it, instead I observe and discreetly photograph genuine, un-staged and natural moments as they unfold, naturally.

Weddings are full of these beautiful moments - elements that depict the true essence of a wedding day. This makes finding the right wedding photographer an exceptionally important task.

Since launching my wedding photography business in 2004, I’ve used a more natural style to shoot weddings across cultures, generations and traditions. For me, it’s not just photography of a wedding; it’s capturing the celebration of life at its most wonderful poignancy.

To see what this means in practice, look through my wedding photography portfolio where you will see the kind of genuine and truthful style of wedding images you will receive from me.

Ultimately, natural wedding photography is about capturing the real story of the day. It’s not about snapping isolated or staged portraits. Rather, it’s a style that tells an authentic narrative; capturing the atmosphere and the environment, photographing not just the action and the reaction, but sensitively recording the characters and the uninfluenced emotions of the day.

This curiosity is reflected in my approach with a focus on storytelling. Creating a truthful and elegant record of not just the key moments but the little, often quieter ones that unfold around you; moments you didn’t witness or experience on the wedding day. Capturing your celebration this way creates an emotive, beautiful, elegant and completely timeless set of natural photographs that sensitively reveal the whole story of your wedding day.

I still typically produce a handful of formal family photographs, as well as a few bride and groom portraits for the majority of the weddings I photograph. I allocate no more than 25 minutes to cover these staged and orchestrated photos, this limits the impact on the flow of natural, narrative-based images presented in the final collection.

The final result is a carefully curated, treasured family heirloom that will be looked at time and again throughout the years, taking you and your loved ones back to the wedding day with total clarity and an honest emotional impact.

“This discreet and natural wedding photo style allows me to create an authentic and timeless record of your wedding day that you will treasure for many years to come. Reportage, done correctly, tells a genuine story entirely through observational pictures”
