Natural, Documentary-Style Wedding Photographer in the Mornington Peninsula, Covering Victoria & Australia

melbourne wedding ceremony

Hi I’m Al, I predominantly work as a Mornington Peninsula wedding photographer.

Originally from England, my professional photographic career spans almost two decades; photographing hundreds of unique wedding and portrait commissions internationally since 2004, visit my UK wedding photography site.

I naturally cover lot’s of weddings in the Mornington Peninsula but my wedding photography coverage extends to the city of Melbourne and surrounding areas, such as Geelong and the Yarra Valley.

Pricing and cover is flexible; I offer a range of photography packages to precisely suit needs; whether your dream is planning a big day with everyone you know or a small, intimate affair with your nearest and dearest.

Packages can be digital-only or feature an exquisite wedding album.

My wedding photography experience ranges from small, low key and intimate weddings to grand and often traditional affairs, including multi-day Indian, Chinese and Jewish celebrations.

Having worked in the portrait and wedding photography industries full-time for almost two decades, I’ve professionally photographed over 1000 weddings and personal stories; covering a variety of private events and producing thousands of natural portraits for families during that time.

My photographic style is best known as reportage wedding photography,  documentary wedding photography or wedding photojournalism.

These are buzz words that mostly wedding photographers in the profession use to describe the same photographic approach to capturing an event in a relaxed, unobtrusive style and without the need for multiple, often tedious family group wedding photos and awkward poses.

My approach to creating wedding photography is unique - I don't place importance on photographic fads and recognise the true value in timeless and natural portrait and wedding pictures of genuinely special moments. My aim is always to create aesthetically beautiful photos that depict an authentic story.

An approach of photography that tells a story solely through pictures.
My discreet style helps me create an incredibly sincere and timeless record of a wedding day or event…

I'll still do the occasional, pre-planned family photo, but I'll commonly spend the vast majority of a wedding day photographing real moments between friends and loved ones. Weddings are full of beautiful, fleeting moments that depict the true essence of a day.

I tell your unique story through pictures, authentically. Documenting the atmosphere, photographing the action (as well as the reaction) and always photographing subjects within context; a simple approach that gives images significantly more substance.

My hands-off approach focuses on allowing couples and guests to relax and completely forget the photographer is even there.

“You have a gift and we are so grateful that you shared it with us. You have captured the spirit of the day in a way that's even better and more realistic than a video. We don’t know how to express our complete joy and amazement at the beauty of these photographs

— Sarah & Nicolas

“A unique, discrete and elegant documentary style…

If you want boring photos don’t bother giving them a call, but if you want something very special for your wedding day then we cannot recommend them highly enough. A truly talented documentary wedding photographer.”

There are so many industry terms used to describe my particular style of natural wedding photography. So it can quite often feel pretty confusing when researching into the distinct types and styles of wedding photographers for your big day.

My exceptionally discreet approach to more honest and authentic wedding photography - which uses natural and available light only - is frequently referred to as ‘reportage wedding photography’ or ‘documentary wedding photography’.

My candid style of wedding photography doesn’t dictate or direct. Instead, I’m at the wedding to simply observe; discreetly recording very genuine, un-staged, often fleeting and impromptu moments, naturally.

Take a look to see what this means in practice by exploring my featured weddings. You’ll see the type of genuine and truthful wedding photos you’ll receive when commissioning me as your wedding photographer.

Don’t just take my word for it - take a look at some of my recent customer reviews.
